How the Installation Proceeds — Step by Step

    At the consumer unit, switch off the dedicated cooker MCB and fit a lockout clip if one is available. Return to the switch position and use a calibrated non-contact tester on the supply cable before touching any conductors. Test twice — testers can fail.     If mounting into a plasterboard or masonry wall, cut the recess for the metal back-box and secure it flush with the wall surface. Feed the supply cable in through the correct knock-out and tighten the cable clamp so the outer sheath is gripped, not the individual conductors.     Slide a green-and-yellow earth sleeve over the bare earth wire — it must be sleeved before termination. Connect live (brown) to L-in, neutral (blue) to N-in, and earth to the earth terminal on the back-box or the switch's earth bar. Torque each screw terminal to the manufacturer's specification, usually 1.0–1.2 Nm; under-tightened terminals cause arcing and heat damage over time.

    Connect the appliance side and fit the switch

    The load side terminals (L-out, N-out, E) connect either to the appliance's flying lead or to a short flex-outlet plate that accepts the cooker's own plug. Check that no conductor insulation is caught under a terminal screw. Fold the cables neatly into the back-box, offer the switch faceplate up, and fix it with the two retaining screws — do not overtighten or the plastic faceplate will crack.

    Restore power, test, and document

    Switch the MCB back on at the consumer unit. Operate the isolator switch several times to confirm smooth action and no sparking. Use a socket tester or multi-meter on the load terminals (with isolator ON) to verify correct polarity — live to L, neutral to N. A licensed electrician must then complete an Electrical Installation Certificate (Υπεύθυνη Δήλωση Εγκαταστάτη) for the circuit, which is mandatory under Greek law and required by insurers.
