    Open the chime cover (usually a clip or two screws). Check that both wire terminals are secure. On traditional mechanical chimes, the striker plunger can jam with dust — clean it with a dry cloth and test the button again. If the plunger moves freely but produces no sound, or if an electronic chime unit shows no LED activity despite correct voltage, replace the chime (€15–40 for a standard unit).
