Biocidal cleaners contain quaternary ammonium compounds or similar actives that are harmful to aquatic organisms and can stress ornamental plants in high concentrations.

Can I use household bleach instead of a specialist stone cleaner?
Bleach will fade the visible discolouration but it is not a registered biocide against cyanobacteria and lichen at typical household dilutions, and it does not contain the surfactants needed to lift embedded pigment.
